The BAPLA Picture Buyers’ Fair (PBF) is the largest event of its kind in the world. Held at the Business Design Centre, 7-8th May 2008, you are invited to come along to find inspiration and get fresh new ideas. Now in it’s eighth year, PBF is a unique opportunity to meet with over 140 BAPLA accredited image suppliers offering a diverse showcase of imagery in one venue. Seminar programme The seminars held over both days of the show, will cover a wide range of subjects. Lead by industry experts, the seminars are designed to give you knowledge which can be utilised for working with images in an ever-changing market. Images make up 20% of a newspaper's total content. On average, each national newspaper publishes 107 images daily; on average, 68% images in national newspapers appear with no credit information, and 59% of all images in Sunday papers are un-credited.
The Independent’s Lynn Cullen, national picture editor and Sophie Batterbury from the weekend picture desk received their ‘Credit where credit is due’ award at a packed house at the image buying event of the year, May 2006. Policy head of intellectual property at UK government’s Patent Office, Liz Coleman, presented the award in the National and Sunday newspapers. As the show is for image buyers to meet new suppliers, we do welcome photographers along to the show, however we would ask that they bring a printed invitation from their exhibiting agent.
